Custom Bodykit Design and Development Costs

We have received a lot of requests for bespoke bodykit development, so this is a new service we are now trialling.

A custom bodykit project involves design work, development, test fitting, and refinement. Bodykit design and development pricing depends on the type of kit, the vehicle, and the amount of work required to take the project from concept through to a production-ready product.

After the initial enquiry and first project assessment, we will put you in touch with our design team in Hangzhou, China to discuss the next stage of the process.

Pricing

As a rough guide, bespoke development pricing typically starts from:

  • Wide body kit design and development – from £23,000
  • Non-wide body kit design and development – from £17,250
  • Low line kit design and development – from £10,350

These prices are for the design and development stage only. They do not include the first production set.

What affects the development cost

The cost of developing a bodykit depends on the vehicle and the level of work involved.

If the car is easy to source domestically and affordable to access for development, the project is usually more straightforward. If the vehicle is expensive, rare, or costly to rent for test fitting, the development cost will increase.

This is especially true with high-value vehicles and supercars, where rental and access costs are much higher.

Development cost will usually depend on:

  • the cost of the vehicle
  • how easy it is to source domestically
  • rental or access cost during development
  • the complexity of the design
  • the amount of fitment and refinement work required

Because of this, the prices above should be treated as starting points, not fixed quotes for every vehicle.

Exclusivity and mould ownership

For bespoke projects, the client will own the mould. This means the bodykit will be exclusive to them.

The client can then sell the bodykit, with all kits purchased through us.

Production commitment after development

To make the project more viable, we recommend committing to at least five sets after development.

This does not mean paying the full amount for five sets upfront. Instead, we recommend a deposit against five sets.

This gives the project a clearer commercial basis after the development stage is complete.

What is included in the development stage

The design and development cost covers the work required to create the bodykit concept and develop it into a production-ready product.

This stage does not include:

  • the first production set
  • separate shipping costs unless agreed
  • extra work outside the original agreed scope

Initial enquiry process

If you are interested in a custom bodykit, the first step is to contact us with the vehicle details and the type of kit you want to develop.

After the initial contact and first project review, we will discuss the next steps and, if suitable, put you in touch with our design team in Hangzhou, China.
